Professor of Pediatrics, he attended the Institute of Child Health at the Great Ormound Street Children’s Hospital, the Institute of Urology and the Post-graduate School of Medicine, Hammersmith (University of London).
He also attended the School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, University of Liverpool. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh, Fellow of the Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Pediatrica, Fellow of the West Africa College of Physicians, Fellow of the International College of Pediatrics, Adolescent and Family Care.
He was lecturer at the University of Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania (1970-1974) and the College of Medicine of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu where he earned his professorship in 1982. Was awarded HIENZ Fellowship of the British Pediatric Association (Nuffield Foundation).
In 1986, he, in collaboration with CARITAS, the World Council of Churches, and the Government of Gabon, established a large number of treatment centers for very ill children evacuated from the war affected areas of the Biafra. He is on the Board of Trustees of the African Network for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. A consultant to the UNICEF and a number of specialist Hospitals, he is adviser to Federal and some State Governments on Child Health issues in Nigeria.
